Samjosef Belangel and the Daegu Korea Gas Corporation Pegasus prevailed over Kevin Quiambao and the Goyang Sono Skygunners, 88-79, in the Korean Basketball League (KBL) at the Goyang Sono Arena on Sunday, March 2.
Negrense Belangel finished with 19 points, including two three-pointers, to go with eight assists, two rebounds and two steals as the Pegasus notched their second straight win to improve to a 22-18 win-loss slate.
Andrew Nicholson had near double-double numbers of 20 points and nine rebounds.
Kim Nak-hyun added 19 markers, while Shin Seung-min contributed 17 markers for the Pegasus.
Pegasus head coach Kang Hyuk lauded his players for maintaining their energy and aggression despite playing their second game in as many days.
“The players were working on a tight schedule. It must have been very difficult. However, they showed good performance from the beginning,” Kang said in a post-game interview.
Quiambao top-scored for the Skygunners with 17 points and six rebounds.
Alan Williams contributed 17 markers, six rebounds and six assists, while Lee Jung Hyun contributed 14 points.
They dropped to a 14-27 record.
Meanwhile, JD Cagulangan tallied three points, three rebounds and three assists as the Suwon KT Sonicboom (24-17) defeated the Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phoebus (24-16), 62-56, at the Ulsan Dongcheon Gymnasium.
Javi Gomez de Liaño recorded 19 points and seven rebounds as the Anyang Jung Kwan Jang Red Boosters (15-25) stunned the Changwon LG Sakers (25-15), 70-55, at the Changwon Gymnasium./ASC, WDJ
