Negrense Samjosef Belangel was limited offensively as the Daegu Korea Gas Corporation Pegasus escaped with a 66-63 victory over the Seoul Samsung Thunders in the Korean Basketball League (KBL) at the Jamsil Indoor Stadium on Saturday, March 1.
Belangel finished with eight points, four rebounds, two assists, and two steals in 31 minutes of action as the Pegasus moved up to a 21-18 win-loss slate in the standings.
Andrew Nicholson was the lone double-digit scorer for the Pegasus with 37 points to go with nine rebounds and one assist.
“We played the defense we had prepared for since the first quarter to some extent. However, unexpected turnovers occurred, and we missed the opportunity to increase the score,” Pegasus head coach Kang Hyuk said.
“In particular, the players were not focused in the fourth quarter. We needed to save the ball more in the fourth quarter. I will think about how I can do well in the fourth quarter with the players,” he added.
Justin Gutang was held to one point and six rebounds as the Thunders dropped to a 12-27 mark.
Meanwhile, Kevin Quiambao waxed hot in the overtime period as the Goyang Sono Skygunners scored a 92-82 victory over the Wonju DB Promy at the Wonju Sports Complex.
