Grandma stabbed to death

A grandmother was allegedly stabbed to death by her grandson in Bacolod City’s Barangay Pahanocoy on Sunday, February 23.

The victim was identified as 66-year-old Erna Araiz, while the suspect was identified as 19-year-old Jerian Araiz, both residents of the said place.

In a radio interview, Police Captain Greeky Cayao, station commander of Bacolod City Police Station 8, said Jerian witnessed an altercation between his mother and grandmother.

He got a kitchen knife and allegedly stabbed his grandmother, Cayao said.

Erna sustained multiple stab wounds.

She was rushed to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital, but was declared dead on arrival.

Meanwhile, the suspect was arrested and was turned over to the city police.

Cayao said Jerian will be facing a parricide case.

A murder weapon was also recovered from the scene.

The family said it was the first time that he went violent, police reported./WDJ
