Anti-drug operatives have seized P3.6 million in shabu and weapons in three separate buy-busts in the cities of Bacolod and San Carlos in Negros Occidental, police reports showed.
The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) yesterday recovered 220 grams of shabu valued at P1.496 million from a lone suspect at around 1:00 a.m. in Purok Gonzaga Extension, Barangay Taculing.
An alias Kenneth, 31 years old, was arrested after he sold a sachet of shabu worth P1,000 to an undercover policeman, the report said.
About two hours earlier, three suspects were also arrested by the CDEU during an operation in Barangay 3.
The suspects were identified by their aliases Jason, 30 years old; Johnrey, 30 years old; and Charles, 29 years old, all residents of the same village, who yielded 150 grams of shabu worth P1.02 million.
“These two major operations show the BCPO remains steadfast in its intensified anti-drug campaign,” BCPO Director Colonel Joeresty Coronica said in a statement.
In San Carlos City, the police arrested two suspects during a pursuit operation after they shot a trooper of the Philippine Army’s 79th Infantry Battalion (IB) in Barangay Palampas on Monday afternoon, February 17.
Found in their possession were 163 grams of shabu worth P1.106 million, as well as caliber .45 and KG 9mm pistols with ammunition and a grenade.
The victim, identified as Sergeant Alfort Servidad Tito, a resident of Barangay Bato, Sagay City, is in stable condition.
First Lt. Dan Carlo Samoza, civil-military operations officer of 79IB, said in an interview they are conducting a separate investigation as the incident could have been a case of mistaken identity.
Aside from facing drug-related cases, the two suspects, alias Jojo, 31 years old, and alias Dondon, 42 years old, will also be charged with violation of the Commission on Elections gun ban. (PNA)
