The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) has sought assistance of the Western Visayas Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit to identify the person behind a social media post featuring Bacolod Lone District Representative Greg Gasataya.

BCPO director Colonel Joeresty Coronica said the identity of the anonymous user who posted Gasataya’s image on the Bacolod Exposed 2.0 Facebook page remains unknown, as a dummy account was used.

Coronica said the cybercrime unit is now taking steps to trace the origin of the post.

As of now, authorities have also yet to determine the motive behind it.

Earlier, Gasataya sought the help of the BCPO about the Facebook post, stating it was a “direct threat to his life.”

The post featured a black-and-white photo of him sitting on a couch.

The photo had three praying hand emojis, and the text “1970 – 2025,” which suggests it is a tribute or memorial image.

“Let me make this clear: Threats, intimidation and fear-mongering have no place in our community and certainly not in our democracy,” Gasataya said.

He said he would never tolerate violence, whether physical, verbal or psychological./WDJ
