Bago City is grappling with a surge in dengue cases, reporting 127 confirmed infections as of Tuesday, February 11.
According to Elizabeth Nala-onan, city health coordinator, all 24 barangays have recorded dengue cases.
Barangay Lag-asan has the highest number of cases with 15.
To combat this rise, the Bago City Health Office is implementing various strategies.
These include fumigation and larviciding efforts to control mosquito populations, conducting consultations for suspected dengue cases, and educating residents on prevention methods.
This proactive approach follows a significant outbreak in 2024, when Bago recorded over 1,090 dengue cases — the highest in Negros Occidental.
Nala-onan emphasized the need for public cooperation to reduce dengue incidence.
“We continue to monitor our dengue cases in coordination with other sentinels to the Provincial Health Office,” she said./JB, WDJ
