Negrense Samjosef Belangel missed on a game-tying triple as the Daegu Korea Gas Corporation Pegasus suffered a 69-66 defeat to the Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phoebus in the Korean Basketball League at the Daegu Gymnasium on Sunday, February 9.

Down 66-69 following two free throws by Pegasus’ Gaige Prim, Belangel had a chance to send the game into overtime, but he failed to connect with his outside shot attempt at the buzzer.

Belangel finished the game with 10 points, two rebounds and two assists in 31 minutes of action as the Pegasus saw their winning streak snapped to drop to a 20-17 win-loss slate.

Pegasus head coach Kang Hyuk stated that the former Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles guard might be suffering from an injury that resulted in his subpar shooting performance the past few games.

“He’s been playing a lot. He definitely has physical problems. He moves a lot,” Kang said of Belangel after the game.

“I think his shooting balance was shaken because of physical problems. I think he needs to rest and recover well,” he added.

Prim finished with 23 points and nine rebounds to lead the Phoebus.

Lee Dae-heon and Lee Woo-seok added 11 and 10 markers, respectively, while Miguel Oczon contributed three points as they improved to a 23-14 record.

Andrew Nicholson top-scored for the Pegasus with 16 points and six rebounds, while Kim Jun-il added 13 markers in the defeat./ASC, WDJ
