The Rain or Shine Elasto Painters refused to go home on Friday, February 7.

Rain or Shine defeated the Converge FiberXers, 114-104, in Game 2 of the PBA Season 49 Commissioner’s Cup quarterfinals at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium to force a decider.

Adrian Nocum took flight for the winning side, firing 28 points on an efficient 11-of-17 clip, to go with three steals to earn the Player of the Game nod.

Import Deon Thompson was also spectacular for Yeng Guiao and company as he tallied the same scoring number as Nocum while collecting 18 rebounds and seven assists.

Jhonard Clarito added 19 markers, while Anton Asistio also breached twin-digit scoring with 10.

But for Guiao, their defense was better overall this time compared to their performance in the opener.

“Well for one, mas maganda ‘yung depensa namin today,” he said.

The Elasto Painters shot better on the field, listing 48.2 percent compared to the Converge side, which only had 44.3 percent.

They were also able to pass the ball better as they tallied a total of 27 assists; in contrast, the FiberXers only had 18.

“When you’re making your threes, it helps a lot. Maraming napasok na tres si Adrian,” Guiao said of Nocum, who punched four from the arc out of six attempts.

Meanwhile, Converge’s Jordan Heading put up a 29-point, seven-rebound showing, but was down the drain as they absorbed the loss.

Alec Stockton also had 20 points, while Chieck Diallo and Justin Arana had 17 each for the FiberXers offense. (ABS-CBN News)
