The Creamline Cool Smashers continued their hot start in the PVL 2nd All-Filipino Conference after a 25-17, 25-17, 25-21 sweep of the Chery Tiggo Crossovers at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City on Thursday, February 6.
Negrense Bernadeth Pons finished with six points in one set of appearances as the defending champions Cool Smashers notched their eighth victory in as many matches.
Bea de Leon stepped up with 13 points, built on eight attacks, three service aces and two blocks, to be named Player of the Game.
Jessica Galanza added nine markers, while Diana Carlos and Jeanette Panaga contributed eight points apiece for Creamline.
“It’s a team effort, everybody really helped and nag-execute lang kami,” De Leon said after the game.
“[Creamline] coach Sherwin [Meneses] kept on saying na mag-execute lang kami, and everything else just followed,” she said.
“Nung sa first two sets, come-from-behind kami. In the third set, we just set our focus na we have that extra last push sa third set para hindi na umabot hanggang fifth set,” she added.
Victonara Galang finished with 14 points, on 12 attacks and two blocks, for the Crossovers, which suffered their third consecutive defeat to drop to a 5-5 win-loss slate./ASC, WDJ
