Seven representatives in Negros Occidental have endorsed the impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte.

The representatives who signed the complaint are Bacolod City Lone District Representative Greg Gasataya, Negros Occidental 1st District Representative Gerardo Valmayor Jr., 2nd District Representative Alfredo Marañon III, Abang Lingkod Party-list Representative Stephen Paduano, 4th District Representative Juliet Marie Ferrer, 5th District Representative Dino Yulo, and 6th District Representative Mercedes Alvarez.

Initially, Yulo had not signed the impeachment complaint against Duterte.

On Wednesday, February 5, 215 representatives endorsed the impeachment complaint against the vice president, which has now been transmitted to the Senate.

The complaint contains seven articles of impeachment.

These include culpable violation of the Constitution, betrayal of public trust, graft and corruption, and other high crimes.

The complaint against Duterte is scheduled for an impeachment trial.

Meanwhile, Paduano stated that he spoke with Yulo later on Wednesday night, and the latter confirmed that he also signed the complaint after the House of Representatives adjourned.

Paduano said, under the rules of impeachment, only one-third of the House, or 102 representatives, need to sign in order to file a complaint.

He admitted that it depends on the Senate whether they will call a special session to convene the impeachment court to conduct the impeachment trial against Duterte./JB, WDJ
