Negrense Samjosef Belangel tallied a double-double performance as the Daegu Korea Gas Corporation Pegasus scored a 72-69 escape over the Seoul Samsung Thunders in the Korean Basketball League (KBL) at the Daegu Gymnasium on Sunday, February 2.
The former Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles standout finished with 17 points and 10 rebounds, to go with four assists and two steals, as the Pegasus returned to their winning ways with a 19-16 win-loss slate.
Jeong Seong-woo added 14 markers, four assists, three steals, and two rebounds.
Andrew Nicholson contributed 12 points and seven rebounds, while Shin Seung-min ended with 10 points for the Pegasus.
Kofi Cockburn led the way with 22 points and nine rebounds, while Filipino cager Justin Gutang added 11 markers, eight assists and six rebounds as the Thunders dropped to an 11-23 record.
Meanwhile, Kevin Quiambao had a scintillating performance as the Goyang Sono Skygunners scored an 86-82 victory over the Wonju DB Promy at the Goyang Sono Arena.
The former De La Salle University Green Archers star finished with a double-double of 36 points and 12 rebounds, to go with three assists and two steals, as the Skygunners improved to an 11-24 win-loss slate.
Despite delivering his best game in the KBL, Quiambao stated after the game that he was still not satisfied with his performance, as he promised to continue improving as the season progresses.
“I played very well in the first half, but the second half was terrible. I have to do better next time,” Quiambao said.
“There are still many games left. I want to show more of my skills,” he added./WDJ
