The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) in Negros Occidental is expanding the national identification (ID) registration service in the province to reach more Negrenses for enrollment in the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys).

Aside from resuming registration at the provincial office, outlet and malls in the highly urbanized Bacolod City last week, the PSA will also conduct a mobile registration campaign in various local government units and follow a regular schedule in the local civil registrar (LCR) offices and local registration centers.

“We urge the public to register for national ID. This will provide a valid proof of identity for all citizens as a means of simplifying public and private transactions,” PSA-Negros Occidental chief statistical specialist John Campomanes said in a statement.

Data showed that as of September 2024, about 2,171,310 residents of Negros Occidental and 596,344 residents of Bacolod City have already enrolled in the PhilSys.

Some 2,114,470 national ID cards have been delivered in the city and the province.

In Bacolod, registration centers are open at Ayala Malls Capitol Central, Robinsons Place Bacolod, SM City Bacolod, and Gaisano Grand Central from Monday to Saturday.

Registration in LCR offices is available in the municipalities of Don Salvador Benedicto, Toboso, Manapla, Murcia, Pontevedra, Binalbagan, Hinoba-an and Ilog, as well as in the cities of Sagay, Talisay, Kabankalan and Sipalay.

Others include Gaisano Grand in Silay City, City Mall in Victorias City and in Cadiz City and Fifth Congressional District Office in Isabela town.

Those who intend to enroll in the PhilSys Registry may register using one valid identification, which includes but is not limited to any primary or secondary government-issued ID, certificate of live birth, school or company ID and barangay certificate. (PNA)
