The Negros Occidental Provincial Veterinary Office (PVO) reported an increase in the average market prices of beef and pork in several local government units in the province as of Monday, January 27.
Based on submitted reports to the PVO, beef prices rose by P1.67 per kilo, while pork saw an increase of P1.81 per kilo.
The latest market price breakdown shows that the highest reported price for carabeef remains at P450 per kilo in the cities of Escalante and Kabankalan, while the lowest price is P350 in E.B. Magalona town.
Beef prices also reached P450 per kilo in the cities of San Carlos and Sipalay.
Pork prices ranged from P320 in San Carlos and Cauayan town, to P300 in the towns of Toboso and Calatrava.
For chevon, or goat meat, prices remained stable, with the highest price at P500 per kilo in San Carlos and Sagay City, while the lowest was recorded at P300 per kilo in Calatrava and Toboso.
Dressed chicken maintained its price at P195 per kilo in the municipalities of Pulupandan and San Enrique, as well as in La Carlota City.
Egg prices also saw slight increases across all sizes.
Small eggs now cost P8.52 each, up from P8.48, while medium, large and extra-large eggs also recorded minimal price hikes.
Salted eggs slightly decreased from P17.23 to P17.19 per piece, while the price of balut remained unchanged at P30.79.
The highest reported liveweight price for market hogs and slaughtered pigs was recorded in Hinoba-an town at P225 per kilo./JB, WDJ
