Negrense Samjosef Belangel displayed his defensive game as the Daegu Korea Gas Corporation Pegasus prevailed over the Goyang Sono Skygunners, 76-56, in the Korean Basketball League (KBL) at the Goyang Sono Arena on Sunday, January 26.
The former Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles guard finished with a team-high of five steals, to go with six points, six assists and three rebounds, as the Pegasus moved up to an 18-13 record.
Lee Dae-heon led the way for the Pegasus with 26 points and eight rebounds.
Andrew Nicholson chipped in 11 markers and six rebounds, while Jeong Hyo-woo contributed 10 points.
“During the All-Star break, we improved on the parts that were lacking in defense,” Pegasus head coach Kang Hyuk said after the game.
“We ordered a lot of offense based on patterns and promised movements,” he added.
Alpha Kaba finished with nine points and 15 rebounds to lead the Skygunners.
Lee Jae-do and Lim Dong-seop contributed nine markers apiece as they dropped to a 10-22 record.
Carl Tamayo recorded a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds as the Changwon LG Sakers (19-13) scored a 71-68 escape over the Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phoebus (20-11).
Meanwhile, Ethan Alvano had a near triple-double numbers of 32 points, nine assists and seven rebounds as the Wonju DB Promy (16-16) defeated the Seoul Samsung Thunders (11-20), 99-92.
Calvin Epistola had three points, three assists and two rebounds as the defending champions Busan KCC Egis (13-17) toppled the league-leading Seoul SK Knights (25-7), 89-72./ASC, WDJ
