Negrense Alyssa Bertolano had a decent all-around game but the Farm Fresh Foxies bowed to the Chery Tiggo Crossovers, 21-25, 25-14, 25-17, 25-20, in the PVL 2nd All-Filipino Conference at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City on Saturday night, January 25.

The Negros Occidental’s Talisay City native volleybelle finished with nine points, all coming from attacks, to go with 12 excellent digs and seven excellent receptions, as the Foxies dropped to 3-4.

Ilongga Princess Anne Robles powered the Crossovers with 21 points, while Victorinara Galang added 20 markers, lifting their team to a fifth win in eight games and moving them from seventh to a tie for third place.

Cza Carandang excelled in the middle with 12 points, setter Alina Bicar tallied 15 excellent sets, while Joahna Verdeflor stepped up defensively with 24 excellent digs and nine receptions for Chery Tiggo.

“Nag-usap-usap kami na, syempre, sayang nga ‘yung nangyari last game. Hindi pwedeng mangyari ulit sa amin ‘yun,” said Robles, referring to their defeat to the Petro Gazz Angels last January 21.

Trisha Tubu topped Farm Fresh’s scoring with 15 points, while Rizza Cruz and Jolina dela Cruz struggled with eight and seven markers, respectively, in the defeat.

Meanwhile, the ZUS Coffee Thunderbelles returned to their winning ways with a 31-29, 25-15, 25-15 sweep over the Capital1 Solar Energy Power Spikers.

Chinnie Pia Arroyo finished with 15 points, built on 13 attacks, one block, and a service ace, to be named Player of the Game as the Thunderbelles ended their three-game losing skid to improve to a 3-4 win-loss slate.

Ilongga Glaudine Trongcoso also made her presence felt with 12 points, on 11 attacks and a block, while Michelle Gamit contributed 12 markers for the Thunderbelles, which suffered a come-from-behind five-set defeat to the Choco Mucho Flying Titans last week.
