The Iloilo Dinagyang Festival is ready to take the international stage as it culminated its 2025 festivities yesterday.

Iloilo Festival Foundation Inc. president Allan Ryan Tan, in his message during the tribes competition, announced that Dinagyang will perform in Auckland, New Zealand in November.

The Department of Tourism-Western Visayas, through Director Crisanta Marlene Rodriquez, also extended an invitation for the festival to join the World Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan.

“Our Dinagyang is set to take the international stage. We are excited to showcase our culture and strength, the resilience of the Dinagyang warrior to the world that celebrates our culture and unity,” Tan said.

Eight tribes joined the competition — Tribu Paghidaet of La Paz National High School, Tribu Salognon of Jaro National High School, Tribu Pan-ay of Fort San Pedro National High School, Tribu Molave of Barangay San Rafael in Mandurriao, Tribu Parianon of Molo District, Tribu Ilonganon of Jalandoni Memorial National High School, Tribu Hangaway of Graciano Lopez Jaena Elementary School, and Tribu Pag-asa Kang Manduryaw of Mandurriao District.

“Let’s keep the Dinagyang spirit alive and continue to make Iloilo City shine on the global stage,” Mayor Jerry Treñas said in a statement.

Dinagyang (celebration or merrymaking) is celebrated every fourth Sunday of January to honor Sto. Niño, the Child Jesus.

“Dinagyang Festival 2025 not only highlights the exceptional talents and traditions of dinagyang warriors but also reinforces the dynamic synergy between Iloilo City government and the province of Iloilo. This partnership serves as a driving force behind Dinagyang Festival’s success, fueling our shared vision and paving the way for a stronger Iloilo City and province,” Tan said. (PNA)
