Quick Response Team (QRT) members deployed to help families affected by the eruption of Mt. Kanlaon are placed under physical and mental health consciousness monitoring to ensure their well-being, a social welfare official said.
Shalaine Marie Lucero, regional director of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-Central Visayas, said that the agency’s QRT continues to assist Canlaon City in managing the evacuation camps.
While the QRT staff attends to evacuees’ needs, some of the field staff, who are nurses by profession, have also been designated to monitor the health status of their colleagues.
“It is essential to look after our team because, while we provide care for those in crisis, our caregivers and responders need to be cared for as well,” Lucero told the Philippine News Agency.
QRT Action Officers ensure that all team members have their blood pressure checked and are encouraged to report any health issues while on duty.
Lucero said continuous monitoring of their staff’s physical and mental health condition would ensure they receive proper care and treatment to maintain their well-being while on QRT duty. (PNA)
