The Bacolod City Police Office Station 3 clarified that no abduction took place at Purok Riverside in Bacolod City’s Barangay Banago on Wednesday night, January 22.
Station 3 commander, Police Captain Rondyl Tapang, said they responded to the alleged abduction of a woman, based on a viral video, as no formal report was filed at the station.
They identified the victim as a 23-year-old resident of the city’s Barangay 2.
Tapang said they immediately contacted the family of the alleged victim to verify her situation.
Further investigation revealed that the woman was seen at around 8:00 p.m., and her phone was active and ringing when they called.
Police officers also visited her grandfather, with whom she has a close relationship.
The grandfather confirmed that the victim had called him, saying she was out of the city to take a rest.
By around 2:00 p.m. yesterday, the woman had a video call with her sibling in Manila, confirming that she was safe and free from any harm.
Authorities decided not to pursue further investigation, as it was established that she was in a safe condition./WDJ
