Negrense Samjosef Belangel and the Daegu Korea Gas Corporation Pegasus pulled off a 76-74 victory over the Suwon KT Sonicboom in the Korean Basketball League (KBL) at the Daegu Gymnasium on Thursday night, January 16.

The former Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles standout finished with 15 points, four rebounds and four assists as the Pegasus snapped a two-game slide to move up to a 17-13 record in the standings.

Andrew Nicholson tallied a double-double of 34 points and 14 rebounds while also connecting on the game-winning dunk, while Jeong Hyo-woo and Lee Dae-heon ended with 11 and 10 points, respectively, for Pegasus.

“We worked hard in the previous game, but the results were not good,” Pegasus head coach Kang Hyuk said after the game.

He said the players focused from the beginning of the game.

“They were focused well on defense. I think they focused well as time passed,” Hyuk said.

“We became a little complacent in the third quarter, and I think we need to reflect on that. Still, all the players played well. I think we were able to have an interesting game,” he added.

Heo Hoon finished with 16 points to lead the Sonicboom.

JD Cagulangan added 15 points, six assists, four rebounds, and three steals, but they still suffered their third straight loss to drop to a 15-14 record.

Meanwhile, Ethan Alvano scored 14 points, to go with five assists and three rebounds, but the Wonju DB Promy (14-16) suffered a 74-65 defeat against the league-leading Seoul SK Knights (24-6)./ASC, WDJ
