Samjosef Belangel sat out due to an injury as the Daegu Korea Gas Corporation Pegasus suffered a 63-55 defeat to the Seoul SK Knights in the Korean Basketball League at the Jamsil Student Gymnasium on Tuesday night, January 7.

Pegasus head coach Kang Hyuk stated that he opted to rest Belangel as he is being bothered by an ankle injury he sustained during their previous game against the Anyang Jung Kwan Jang Red Boosters.

“Belangel said his ankle was slightly pushed [during our previous game against Anyang], and he was in pain, so I decided to rest him in this game,” Kang said in a post-game interview.

Aside from the former Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles guard, Pegasus’ American reinforcement Andrew Nicholson and Korean guard Kim Nak-hyun also sat out due to ankle and pelvic injuries.

Jameel Warney finished with a double-double of 22 points and 10 rebounds to lead the SK Knights.

Ahn Young-joon added 15 markers, while Juan Gomez de Liaño was scoreless in 48 seconds as they remained on top with a 20-6 record.

Jeong Seong-woo and Jeon Hyun-woo tallied 14 markers apiece, while Lee Dae-heon added 13 markers as the Pegasus suffered their second straight loss to drop to a 15-11 record./ASC, WDJ
