Daegu Korea Gas Corporation Pegasus’ Asian Quota Player Samjosef Belangel is hoping to help his team reach the playoff round of the ongoing Korean Basketball League (KBL) Season.
According to the former Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles star, making it to the postseason is his top goal for the Pegasus after falling short in his first two seasons.
“Making it to the playoffs is the top priority for this season, and if we make it to the playoffs, I want to prepare for each game from then on,” Belangel said.
“I know that it’s not easy to go through a season because KBL has a tight schedule,” the Negrense cager said in an interview.
“The coach is considerate of the players’ conditions, so I think my body gets ready if I do what the coach asks,” he added.
Belangel, who was voted to play in the KBL All-Star Game, recorded a career-high of 36 points during the Pegasus’ lopsided 114-77 victory against the Seoul Samsung Thunders on Saturday, January 4.
The Bacolod City-native guard’s performance broke his previous career high of 30 points while also setting a new record for most points for an Asian Quota Player in a game.
“Actually, I was not aware of the [KBL record]. It was only my teammates who told me about it after the game,” Belangel said.
“But I think what is important is the win that we achieved,” he added.
The Pegasus are currently in fourth place in the standings with a 15-10 win-loss slate./ASC, WDJ
