Belangel, Daegu prevail over Busan in KBL

Negrense Samjosef Belangel and the Daegu Korea Gas Corporation Pegasus regained their winning ways with a 97-71 victory over the Busan KCC Egis in the Korean Basketball League at the Busan Sajik Gymnasium on Sunday, December 22.

The Negrense guard tallied 15 points, built on five three-point conversions, to go with five assists and one steal as the Pegasus remained in third place with a 12-8 win-loss slate.

Andrew Nicholson led the way with a double-double of 29 points and 10 rebounds.

Kwak Jeong-hoon added 23 points and nine rebounds, while Shin Seung-min ended with 17 markers for Daegu.

“All of my players performed well. Our parts that we prepared against Busan worked well,” Pegasus head coach Kang Hyuk said after the game.

“They all played harder coming off a loss, so I praised them a lot,” he said.

“Even in the difficult circumstances of the game, they showed that they were trying to win,” Hyuk said.

“I know it’s hard, but I always want to tell them that I’m grateful for what they have done,” he added.

Lee Geun-hwi finished with 24 points, including eight three-pointers.

Lee Seung-hyun added 10 markers, while Filipino-American Calvin Epistola was held scoreless in 20 minutes as the Egis dropped to 9-11./ASC, WDJ
