The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) assured the public that there is enough supply of noche buena products within the suggested retail prices (SRP) in the market.
“We have sufficient supply, and as to prices, they are within the suggested retail prices. We have not seen changes or increases in prices,” said Trade and Industry Development Specialist Ma. Dorlita Chavez, in a press conference on Thursday.
DTI Iloilo monitors 239 shelf keeping units to determine if the prices of products exceed by 10 percent.
Chavez said retailers mostly follow the SRP while others sell even less than the suggested price.
On the other hand, she said that they would start with the monitoring of firecrackers sold in designated zones on December 23.
“We have 14 licensed manufacturers and nine brands. So far, we have no licensed manufacturers from Western Visayas. Most of our manufacturers are from Bulacan,” she added.
Sellers will be asked to pull out from their display firecrackers that are not on the list of licensed manufacturers and products. (PNA)
