The Converge FiberXers shocked the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings in comeback fashion, 98-91, in the 2024-2025 PBA Commissioner’s Cup at the Batangas City Coliseum on Saturday, December 21.
The FiberXers have claimed their fifth win in the mid-season tourney after the out-of-town triumph, while the Gin Kings absorbed their second loss in the import-laced competition.
Although it was Ginebra which showed its might first, establishing a 17-point cushion in the first 24 minutes. That lead proved to be unsafe as Stockton sparked a huge come-from-behind rally in the third frame to pull away.
They rode on a sweet 20-0 run which started in the third quarter and extended into the final frame, powered by Stockton’s 17-point outburst in the third canto.
Schonny Winston made sure not to put that to waste, helping Converge fend off any Ginebra attack with an 11-point outing in the fourth quarter alone.
When the dust settled, Stockton finished with 22 points, eight assists and six rebounds, while Winston had a total of 15 for the offense.
Reinforcement Cheick Diallo helped that victory happen, garnering a massive double-double of 19 points and 18 rebounds.
Meanwhile, the always-spectacular Justin Brownlee had dropped 39 points and 10 boards in the shock Barangay Ginebra defeat. (ABS-CBN News)
