Daegu Korea Gas Corporation Pegasus guard Samjosef Belangel has been selected to play in the Korean Basketball League (KBL) All-Star Game at the Busan Sajik Gymnasium on January 19.
The Negrense guard secured 14th place out of 20 players voted with a total of 23.49 points, coming from 37,007 fan votes and 31 player votes for his KBL All-Star debut.
The former Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles standout had a solid year for the 11-7 Pegasus, averaging 13.7 points, 3.1 rebounds, 4.9 assists, and 1.4 steals per game.
Aside from Belangel, Filipino-American guard Ethan Alvano of Wonju DB Promy was also voted to participate in the festivity.
Alvano, the reigning KBL Domestic Player MVP, ranked ninth in the voting with 28.06 points, receiving 37,900 fan votes and 49 player votes.
The KBL All-Star Game teams will be coached by Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phoebus head coach Cho Dong-hyun and Seoul SK Knights mentor Jeon Hee-chul, whose teams ranked first and second, respectively, at the end of the second round of eliminations.
In addition to the 20 players selected through fan and player voting, two more players each will be chosen by Cho and Jeon to complete the rosters for the All-Star Game./ASC, WDJ
