The Bacolod Tay Tung High School Thunderbolts emerged as champions in the NOPSSCEA Season 44 high school girls beach volleyball tournament at the University of St. La Salle in Bacolod City.
Led by Mary Antonette Bontia, Danielle Anne Saloria and Alaica Faith Lachica, the Thunderbolts captured the championship after a 21-13, 21-17 victory over Living Stones International School in the finals.
The Thunderbolts high school girls beach volleyball team was handled by coaches Belson de Ocampo and Romel Taninas.
Jose Montalbo served as the team manager.
“I am glad because Bacolod Tay Tung is also excelling in women’s beach volleyball,” Montalbo told Watchmen Daily Journal.
“I think this is the school’s first beach volleyball crown in NOPSSCEA,” he said.
“Just like in our indoor girls volleyball team, we are also working for our beach volleyball team to be successful as well. We just want to show that Tay Tung volleyball never stops,” he added.
Meanwhile, Colegio de Sta. Ana de Victorias (CSAV) swept the women’s and men’s beach volleyball championships.
The CSAV men’s beach volleyball team were led by Christopher Mansueto, John Joe Dorimon, Johnrylle Monteroso, and Adamin Amarrador, Jr.
On the other hand, the school’s women’s beach volleyball squad was bannered by Ma. Olga Montilla and Hanah Joy Cordero./ASC, WDJ
