Robert Bolick caught fire in the payoff period to fuel a massive come-from-behind win for the NLEX Road Warriors over the San Miguel Beermen, 104-99, in the PBA Season 49 Commissioner’s Cup on Sunday, December 8, at the Ynares Center Antipolo.

The veteran guard dropped 20 points in the fourth quarter alone to finish with a 39-point outing on a perfect 3-of-3 from the three-point area alongside nine assists as the Road Warriors improved to 3-1.

The Beermen, meanwhile, slipped to 1-1 to open its title defense bid.

Bolick’s explosion capped off a 19-point comeback for the Road Warriors as the former San Beda standout fired back-to-back triples to tie things up at 87-all. Before that point, NLEX was once deep in a 65-46 hole.

Another pair of floaters from Bolick sent NLEX and San Miguel to another deadlock at 91-all before his scorching four-point shot over the defense of Marcio Lassiter saw them enjoying a 98-94.

Bolick also proved he’s lethal on the defense, stealing the ball away from June Mar Fajardo before feeding a dime to Mike Watkins that led to a dunk for a 100-94 lead with 1:21 to go.

Juami Tiongson buried a three-pointer of his own before Fajardo caught the offensive rebound as San Miguel trimmed the deficit to just three, 102-99.

Bolick would then seal the victory by sinking a pair of freebies.

Bolick erupted for 39 points, along with nine assists, two rebounds and one steal, while import Mike Watkins had 28 rebounds, 17 points, four blocks, an assist, and a steal for the Road Warriors.

Beermen’s reinforcement Quincy Miller-Scott had 21 points, 11 rebounds and a steal, while Fajardo led the locals with 20 points, 19 rebounds, three assists, and two steals. (GMA Integrated News)
