Kai Sotto and Dwight Ramos remained solid for their respective squads in the Japan B.League after their Gilas Pilipinas stint in the 2025 FIBA Asia Cup qualifiers.
On Sunday, December 1, in their 2024-25 regular season matches, Sotto starred for the Koshigaya Alphas against FE Nagoya, while Ramos was one of the few bright spots for Levanga Hokkaido in their loss against the Hiroshima Dragonflies.
Sotto had a solid 24-point, 13-rebound game together with three assists, two steals and a block in Alphas’ 101-71 victory over the Fighting Eagles at the Koshigaya City Gymnasium.
This victory pushed them to No. 7 in the Eastern Division as it was their fourth win in 16 games.
On the other hand, Ramos had nine markers, five dimes, three boards, and a steal in Levanga’s 87-74 defeat against Hiroshima at the FPCO Arena Fukuyama.
This was the 11th loss for Hokkaido in 16 games, and it moved them down to fifth in the Eastern Division.
Both Sotto and Ramos, just less than two weeks ago, were key contributors in Gilas’ wins in the November window of the Asia Cup qualifiers, wherein they moved up to 4-0 in Group B after defeating New Zealand and Hong Kong.
Also returning to the B.League from national team duties, albeit not being able to play in the Asia Cup, was AJ Edu.
After dealing with a knee injury in mid-November, Edu returned to action in the Nagasaki Velca’s defeat against the Saga Ballooners.
He had a quiet outing with two points, two rebounds and a block in their 80-51 loss against the Ballooners at the Saga Arena, and this was their ninth loss in 15 games.
They are now sixth in the Western Division.
Meanwhile, former Gilas members Ray Parks Jr., Matthew Wright and Geo Chiu also saw action on Sunday.
Parks Jr. was stellar for Osaka Evessa once more, putting up 20 points, three rebounds and three assists in their 74-71 victory over the Ibaraki Robots at the Adastria Mito Arena.
This was their ninth win in 16 games, and they moved up to No. 3 in the Western Division after this. (ABS-CBN News)
