The Commission on Elections (Comelec) will hold mock polls in 15 areas across the country later this month, in preparation for next year’s midterm elections.

“We will hold the mock elections soon … come the end of December,” Comelec spokesperson John Rex Laudiangco said at the Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon briefing yesterday.

Laudiangco added that the nationwide activity would involve actual members of the Electoral Boards and registered voters.

“We want to see the general conduct of the automated elections in different parts of the country,” he said.

Based on the list provided by the Comelec, the mock polls will be held in 30 barangays in 15 cities and municipalities in five provinces, Metro Manila, and the Special Geographic Area (SGA) of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.

In Metro Manila, the events will be held in Barangays San Pedro and Santa Ana in Pateros; Barangays Ususan and Pinagsama in Taguig City; and Barangays Poblacion and Pio del Pilar in Makati City.

The same activities will be held in Barangays Poblacion and Guinaang in Bontoc, as well as Barangays Poblacion and Angkeling in Sagada in the Mountain Province; and Barangays Dela Paz and San Juan in Antipolo City and Barangays Special District and Bagumbong in Jala-Jala in Rizal.

In the Visayas, the areas for the mock polls are in Barangays Taboc and San Gabriel in Borongan City, and Barangays Poblacion 9 and Maslog in Lawaan in Eastern Samar.

The mock polls in Mindanao will be held in Barangays Washington and San Isidro in Surigao, and Barangays Central and Anislagan in Placer in Surigao del Norte.

Also in Barangays Walled City and Bus-Bus in Solo, and Barangays Taglibi and Anuling in Patikul in Sulu; in Barangays Batulawan and Fort Pikit in Malidegao, and Barangays Pedtad and Tamped in Old Kaabakan in the SGA will hold mock polls in the Bangsamoro. (PNA)
