More than 1,000 individuals were apprehended in Negros Oriental during enhanced simultaneous anti-criminality law enforcement operations over the weekend.

Lt. Stephen Polinar, spokesperson of the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office (NOPPO), said during the Simultaneous Anti-Criminality Law Enforcement Operations (SACLEO) from November 15 to 17, there were 14 anti-drug operations that led to the arrest of 14 and confiscation of 45.14 grams of shabu with an estimated street value of P307,000.

In 19 anti-illegal gambling operations, 38 individuals were arrested and P3,553 bet money were seized.

The campaign against wanted persons resulted in the capture of five “most wanted,” along with 49 others, during 54 operations.

Efforts to address loose firearms led to 44 firearms being surrendered or confiscated.

Under Oplan Katok (knock), an initiative to encourage responsible gun ownership, two firearms were deposited for safekeeping.

Additionally, 951 individuals were apprehended for various ordinance violations across towns and cities.

“This is the second SACLEO in Negros Oriental, directed by the Philippine National Police to intensify the government’s fight against illegal drugs, corruption, terrorism, gambling, loose firearms and other crimes,” Polinar said in a statement. (PNA)
