Negrense Bernalyn Bejoy of the De La Salle University Lady Tracksters secured two medals in the first two days of the UAAP Season 87 athletics at the New Clark City Stadium in Capaz, Tarlac.
The Bacolod City native Bejoy took home a gold medal in the women’s 800-meter dash with a time of 2:11.37, defeating Far Eastern University’s (FEU) Susan Ramadan (2:12.62) and Nicole Diloy (2:16.72).
Bejoy, a standout from Romanito Maravilla National High School, settled for a silver medal finish in the women’s 200-meter dash in 25.07, behind Ilongga Annie Mercurio of FEU, who finished the race in 24.75 seconds.
Bejoy’s schoolmate, Negrense Ann Katherine Quitoy, finished with a silver medal in the women’s javelin throw event with her 40.19-meter performance.
FEU’s Rogen Aguirre, a native of Negros Occidental’s Sagay City, also captured a silver medal in the men’s 10,000 meter event with his time of 33:07.02.
On the other hand, Bacolodnon Antonette Jay Aguillon of FEU bagged a bronze medal in the women’s heptathlon event with a total of 3,929 points./ASC, WDJ
