The Dolphins Football Club, composed of Negros Occidental-based young booters, is set to represent the country in the La Liga Youth Tournament slated from November 22 to 24 in Bangkok, Thailand.

According to Dolphins FC Club director coach John Carmona, the squad is composed of 32 players, of which 17 players are skillful indigent players from all over the Negros Island Region.

“This is Dolphins FC’s first time to compete internationally,” Carmona said.

“Our objective is to give the players international exposure. We are preparing the players tactically and technically the whole year for this once in a lifetime opportunity,” he added.

Carmona said they started the club with an advocacy to promote the preservation and conservation of dolphins, which are endangered species, especially the Irriwady dolphins found between Guimaras and Negros Occidental.

Dolphins FC, in the Under 14 and Under 12 age categories, will slug it out against teams from Japan, China, Thailand, South Korea, Australia, Malaysia, India, Maldives, Singapore, and Laos.

Dolphins FC have previously won titles locally and internationally, namely the Premier Cup in Laguna, Brazilian Jericho National Inter-Club, Maxcom Football Cup 2024, Sinadya Cup, MassKara Cup, and many others./ASC, WDJ
