Two residents were arrested yesterday in a buy-bust that yielded P1.020 million in suspected shabu at Villa Angela Subdivision, Barangay Villamonte, according to a report by the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO).
The suspects were identified as alias “Mariel,” 30 years old, and her companion alias “Naldo,” 23 years old, both jobless residents of Barangay 20.
At past 4:00 a.m., a poseur-buyer of the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) bought a sachet of shabu worth P1,000 from the suspects.
Operatives also found in their possession eight sachets and two knot-tied plastic bags containing 150 grams of the same prohibited substance priced at P6,800 per gram.
Both suspects will face charges for violation of Section 5 (sale of dangerous drugs) and Section 11 (possession of dangerous drugs) of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
In a statement, Brigadier General Jack Wanky, director of the Police Regional Office-Western Visayas, commended the collaboration of the police and the community in the fight against illegal drugs in the city.
“We extend our deep appreciation to the members of the community for providing information that led to the identification and arrest of the suspects,” he added.
The operation yesterday morning followed the two major drug hauls of the BCPO-CDEU in the first week of November.
On November 6, operatives arrested two individuals in a buy-bust that yielded P1.7 million worth of shabu at a residence in Purok Gonzaga, Barangay Taculing.
Two suspects who yielded P3.4 million worth of shabu were also arrested in Purok Kabuhi, Barangay 10, on November 1. (PNA)
