The Negros Shiseikan Kendo Club showcased their ability in the 6th Philippine National Kendo Tournament held recently at the University of Southeastern Philippines in Davao City.

Lyndi Mendoza spearheaded the gold medal winners as she ruled the women’s individual event.

Her Shiseikan teammate Rita Alexis Cuadra took home the bronze medal.

On the other hand, Robert Carabuena, Jr. won a gold medal in the men’s individual event, while Jackie Louise and Juneseth Magpusao settled for bronze medal finishes in the tween’s individual event.

On the women’s team event, the Shiseikan-B team — led by Mao Akuto, Mary Liberty Amido, Diane Virgula, and Suzzane Yu — defeated the Shiseikan-A team — led by Mendoza Rio Akuto, Suzuki Chisato, and Rita Alexia Cuadra.

Howard Mercado earned the fighting spirit award in the teen’s individual event, while Yuri Haderly also gained the same special citation on the men’s team event.

“These phenomenal athletes have demonstrated unparalleled skill, teamwork and spirit, leading the team to victory. Their dedication and resilience exemplify what it means to be champions, inspiring us all to strive for greatness,” the club said in a statement.
