52 anti-drug ops; BCPO seized P28.6-M illegal drugs in October

The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) recovered a total of P28.6 million worth of illegal drugs during its month-long anti-illegal drug operations in October.

BCPO director Police Colonel Joeresty Coronica, in a statement, said they conducted 52 drug buy-bust operations that resulted in the seizure of 4,245.243 grams of suspected shabu.

Sixty individuals were arrested during the period, Coronica said.

BCPO has also successfully apprehended 36 wanted individuals in Bacolod.

Of these, eight were identified as priority targets, while 28 were other wanted persons, he said.

The BCPO also targeted illegal gambling activities, conducting 19 operations that led to the arrest of 64 individuals.

A total of P7,025 in bet money was confiscated, demonstrating BCPO’s dedication to maintaining order and addressing illicit activities within Bacolod.

Coronica said another aspect of the operation was focused on loose firearms, as BCPO recovered a total of 12 firearms that were surrendered, deposited or confiscated.

Four explosives were surrendered, while three firearms were confiscated during the operations, leading to the arrest of four individuals involved in illegal possession of weapons.

 

P82 million shabu seized in WV

Meanwhile, the Police Regional Office in Western Visayas’ (PRO-6) month-long campaign against illegal drugs confiscated approximately 12,066 grams of shabu valued at P82 million, 2,013 grams of marijuana worth P241,000, and arrested 317 illegal drug peddlers.

These were the results of 246 region-wide police operations from October 1 to 31.

On the number of arrests, Negros Occidental is at the top with 104 individuals apprehended, which is equivalent to 32.7 percent.

It is followed by the Iloilo City Police Office and Bacolod City Police Office with 82 and 62 arrests, respectively.

The suspects are now facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

PRO-6 director Brigadier General Jack Wanky commended all unit commanders and their personnel across the region for these laudable accomplishments.

“These figures are the result of your commitment in our campaign, to get rid of the menace of illegal drugs,” Wanky said.

“Moreover, maintain your good rapport with the members of the community and strengthen your collaboration and coordination with other agencies. With them at our side, surely, we can spare our communities from the peril of illegal drugs,” he added./JB, WDJ
