The Negros ICC Blue Hawks continued their slump in the 2024 MPVA Season as they bowed to the Valenzuela City Classy, 25-21, 8-25, 25-20, 25-14, at the Bacoor Strike Gym in Bacoor City, Cavite on Monday night, November 4.

Abegail Nuval finished the match with 12 points, all coming from attacks, to be named Player of the Game as the Classy notched their third victory against 11 defeats this season.

According to Nuval, she is delighted to be able to contribute to the Classy’s service receive, which was not present during their tight first set win and lopsided second set defeat.

“Sobrang special sa amin itong panalo na ito. Sa dami naming talo, ngayon lang uli kami nanalo,” Nuval said in a post-game interview.

“Proud kami sa isa’t isa at natapos namin ‘yung laban ng maganda,” she said.

“Habang nasa bench ako, talagang nag-o-observe ako kung ano ba talaga ‘yung kulang sa amin dun sa first and second set. Kulang talaga kami sa receive kasi ‘yung offense naman nandun eh. Kaya ‘yun ang tinulong ko sa loob,” she added.

The Blue Hawks, the runner-up team during the MPVA’s inaugural season, dropped to a 4-11 win-loss card.

Meanwhile, the Quezon Tangerines (14-1) maintained their hold on the top spot after a dominant 25-19, 25-14, 25-19 victory against the San Juan Lady Knights-Go for Gold (6-8).

Mary Grace Borromeo continued her fine play for the Tangerines with 13 points, built on 11 attacks and two service aces, to be named Player of the Game.

On the other hand, defending champions Bacoor City Strikers (11-3) remained in second place in the standings after a 25-10, 25-14, 25-19 victory over the Marikina Lady Shoemasters (0-14).
