Negrense Samjosef Belangel had a near double-double outing as the Daegu Korean Gas Corporation Pegasus defeated the Anyang Jung Kwan Jang Red Boosters, 97-64, in the Korean Basketball League (KBL) at the Anyang Arena on Wednesday, October 30.
The former Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles star tallied eight rebounds and seven points to go with two steals in just 25 minutes of action as the Pegasus moved up to 3-1 in the standings.
Andrew Nicholson finished with 20 points to lead Pegasus, Ndoye Youssopha added 16 markers, while Jeong Seong-Woo, Kim Nak-Hyeon and Lee Do-Heon had 14, 13 and 10, respectively.
Pegasus head coach Kang Hyuk credited the team’s ability to bounce back from their early struggles in the game for their lopsided victory against the slumping Red Boosters.
“I thought the players were getting it wrong again because there was a turnover at the start of the game, but they quickly came to their senses and focused again,” Kang said in a post-game interview.
“The players worked hard until the end. It seemed like everything went well, from the hard work to the defense and offense,” he said.
“All the players on our team did well in this game,” he added.
Michael Young was the lone double-digit scorer for the Red Boosters with 21 points, while Javi Gomez de Liaño struggled with just two points, one rebound and one assist as they dropped to 1-4 in the standings./ASC, WDJ
