The Bacolod Tay Tung High School Thunderbolts emerged as champions in the 32nd Pintaflores Volleyball Tournament 15-and-under category held in Negros Occidental’s San Carlos City over the weekend.
Marishka Alexandria Andrada spearheaded the offense to be named Most Valuable Player as the Thunderbolts defeated the Talisay Elite in the championship game, 25-18, 25-21.
Also part of the Thunderbolts team are team captain Kara Sophia Feril, Athena Danielle Magbanua, Samantha Cañete, Shannen Bañas, Kyana Cortez, Xadrej Zade Española, and Jessica Soco.
Completing the Thunderbolts squad are Jemimah Calvo, Ariane Alayon, Memielle Letran, Nicole Getino, Yeriel Zafina Montalbo, and Zelver Banguiao.
Serving as head coach is Roemel Taniñas.
Thunderbolts head coach Jose Montalbo stated that he was delighted with the performance of the team, composed of players 14 and below, against their more experienced opponents.
“Of course, we are happy with the outcome because our 13 to 14 [years old] team were able to keep in step with the players that are elder than them,” Montalbo told Watchmen Daily Journal.
“With coach Roemel, these young ladies are just continuing their preparation and improvement for them to be ready when they are called up for the seniors team,” he added.
