Flower vendors at the Bacolod Public Plaza will be relocated after the permits for MassKara Festival food kiosks were extended until Thursday, October 31.

City Administrator Lucille Gelvolea said flower vendors along the public plaza’s roadside were affected by the city council’s resolution which extends special permits to stall owners for four days.

Gelvolea said they will be located on some portions of Gonzaga, Araneta and Gatuslao Streets.

A total of 248 flower vendors have already obtained permits ahead of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day on November 1 and 2.

Of the number, 105 of them were selling in the public plaza last year.

However, Gelvolea said they may not be able to use their usual locations on San Juan and Gonzaga Streets.

The resolution has also suggested that kiosks should have two-meter spaces on all street corners.

Vendors are only allowed to start their operations if they have special permits.

Earlier, the city government issued special permits for MassKara Festival kiosk owners until Thursday, to give them the opportunity to earn more following the inclement weather brought by Severe Tropical Storm “Kristine” last week.

They are allowed to operate at three festival sites only — Bacolod City Government Center, the Bacolod Public Plaza and Megaworld’s The Upper East./WDJ
