The Committee on Tourism in Bacolod City is eyeing implementing a curfew for minors during this year’s MassKara Festival.

The proposal comes after an altercation erupted on San Juan Street on Friday night, October 18.

Councilor Jason Villarosa, in an interview yesterday, said the implementation of the curfew will hinge on approval from the city’s legislative and executive offices, as well as the Bacolod City Police Office.

The proposed ordinance seeks to implement curfews, not only at festival venues, but also at the barangay level, to enhance safety during the night.

Villarosa acknowledged the possibility that the altercation was an isolated incident, and emphasized the importance of identifying those involved to prevent similar occurrences in the future.

He expressed a strong desire for a zero crime rate during the festivities.

Furthermore, the councilor reassured the public that local authorities and police are actively working to enforce appropriate regulations to maintain order and ensure a safe environment for festival-goers.

The proposed curfew aims to foster a secure atmosphere, allowing families and attendees to enjoy the festivities safely./JB, WDJ
