A P6.8 million worth of suspected shabu was seized from a drug suspect during a buy-bust operation at Purok Masinadyahon in Bacolod City’s Barangay 12 yesterday afternoon.

Lt. Colonel Antonio Benitez Jr., head of the City Drug Enforcement Unit, said 24-year-old Darel Demafelis, a resident of the said place, was arrested after the confiscation of a kilo of suspected shabu.

Also recovered from Demafelis was P2,000 marked money, a digital weighing scale, and P1,100 cash.

The suspect was considered a high-value individual due to the volume of recovered drugs, Benitez said.

Police alleged that Demafelis was also the distributor of the illegal substance in the city.

The suspect admitted to previous drug-related charges, having been incarcerated for violating the Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, in March 2023.

He was released in October after the case against him was dismissed.

Demafelis is currently detained at Police Station 1./JB, WDJ
