Carballo claims V-League best setter award

Negrense Cassie Carballo of the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Golden Tigresses was awarded Best Setter during the 2024 V-League Collegiate Challenge’s awarding ceremony at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.

The Negros Occidental’s Silay City native Carballo achieved the individual citation after leading the league in setting with 3.90 per set, and was also third in serving with an average of 0.31 per set.

Carballo was joined by her UST teammates Angeline Poyos (MVP), Regina Jurado (Best Opposite Spiker), Em Banagua (Best Middle Blocker), and Bernadett Pepito (Best Libero) in the Women’s V-League Supreme Team.

Rounding out the awardees are Best Outside Spikers Wielyn Estoque of College of St. Benilde (CSB), Chen Tagaod of Far Eastern University and Best Middle Blocker Zamantha Nolaso, also from CSB.

Meanwhile, UST Tiger Spikers’ Gboy de Vega spearheaded the V-League Supreme Team with teammate Edlyn Colinares and Joshua Magalaman of De La Salle University as Best Middle Blockers, Jelord Talisayan of Far Eastern University (FEU) and Chris Hernandez, also from La Salle, as Best Outside Spikers.

Completing the cast are Best Opposite Spiker Dryx Saavedra of FEU, Best Setter Jerico Adajar, and Best Libero Menard Guerrero of La Salle./ASC, WDJ
