The TNT Tropang Giga secured a spot in the 2024 PBA Governors’ Cup semifinals after cruising past the NLEX Road Warriors, 125-96, on Tuesday, October 1, at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
Import Rondae Hollis-Jefferson did what was expected of him, tallying a game-high 35 points on a 12-of-20 clip and grabbing 11 rebounds.
Rey Nambatac and RR Pogoy added 19 and 18 points for the TNT offense, respectively.
The Tropang Giga pulled away as early as the opening canto, 15-7, and never looked back.
They followed it though with a 31-21 second quarter for a 20-point, 66-46 separation coming into the second half.
For coach Chot Reyes, the series was about getting a better field goal percentage. In this game, they made 42 in total out of 57 attempts, listing a 57.5 clip.
“In this sport, it’s about playing defense, certainly, but it’s also about putting the ball in the hoop,” Reyes said.
“I think, in the quarterfinals, we finally hit some shots. If you notice, our field goal percentages in the elimination round were very low on all fronts,” he added.
The exiting NLEX was paced by Robert Bolick, who had 25 points and seven assists in his last game this conference.
