The Terrafirma Dyip finally snatched one in the 2024 PBA Governors’ Cup.
It was more impressive because the also-ran Dyip took down top-seed TNT Tropang Giga, 84-72, on Thursday, September 19, at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
This was also the team’s first win against TNT since 2016.
“I won, finally,” Stanley Pringle exclaimed during the postgame interview after sharing that he was nursing his knee throughout the game.
“Well, I was a little hurt this game and my knee was just acting up a little bit from all the games, back-to-back,” he said. “Coach let me sit out the second half — I asked if I could sit out for a while and just activate and do my mobility on the bench, and the guys stepped up.”
“I just came in really in the end and played hard in the end and we got the win,” Pringle added.
Holding a three-point lead with around six minutes left in the final chapter, 69-66, Pringle went on to sink a couple of baskets and freebies, despite answers from Tropang Giga import Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, for a 79-70 separation.
The TNT side could not find its shots, as Aldrech Ramos capitalized on it and fired the dagger triple with 34 seconds left.
Pringle had a total of 18 points and five rebounds, while Terrafirma reinforcement Antonio Hester had a team-high 22 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Hollis Jefferson dropped a game-high and almost a triple-double of 25 points, 11 rebounds, and nine steals in the loss.
Local RR Pogoy had 23 markers. (ABS-CBN News)
