A wife was shot dead by her husband over alleged jealousy in Dumaguete City’s Barangay Tabuc-Tubig early yesterday morning.
Police have yet to identify the 36-year-old victim, who was found dead with gunshot wounds in several parts of her body inside a vehicle.
Her body was discovered in the driver’s seat.
The woman, originally from Calasiao, Pangasinan, was a nurse working in Negros Oriental.
She was found wearing her uniform.
Her 39-year-old husband, who was also a nurse, resides in the city’s Barangay Mangnao, police said.
According to Lt. Stephen Jaynard Polinar, spokesperson of the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office, the incident occurred around 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 5.
The husband fled the scene and sought refuge at a friend’s house, where he was later found by police after the friend reported the incident.
According to initial investigation, a third party may have been the motive of the crime.
It is not yet clear what type of firearm was used because the suspect hid it, and no bullets were recovered inside the vehicle.
The suspect is currently in the custody of the Dumaguete City Police Station.
