Several new election officers from the Commission on Elections (Comelec) in Negros Occidental have commenced their roles to prepare for the 2025 midterm elections.
Provincial election supervisor Atty. Ian Lee Ananoria said that part of their preparation for the elections next year involves appointing an election officer or board of canvassers chairman to fill each vacant position before the filing of certificates of candidacy from October 1 to 8.
According to Ananoria, the reshuffling of positions has been conducted for the following election officers:
* Christian Leigh Razonable from Murcia town will serve as acting election officer in Bago City
* Rolando Genito from Silay City will become the election officer in Kabankalan City
* Kathrina Trinio-Caña from Bacolod City will be the election officer in Silay City
* Revo Sorbito from Cadiz City will take the position in Bacolod
* Claudine Joyce Ballesteros from Manapla town will assume duties in Cadiz
Ananoria also mentioned that Comelec-Negros Occidental has already established electoral boards for the upcoming elections.
Training for poll workers will be conducted in November, to familiarize them with the MIRU System’s vote counting machines.
Additionally, Comelec will deploy one vote counting machine to each local government unit in Negros Occidental for a roadshow in December of this year.
This initiative aims to educate voters on using the MIRU System for casting their votes./JB, WDJ
