The Bacolod Tay Tung High School 15-Under Thunderbolts emerged as champions in the Triple A Shoe Collection 15-Under Volleyball League held recently in Iloilo City.

Marishka Alexandria Andrada stepped up for the Thunderbolts as they cruised to a dominant 25-12, 25-13 straight set victory against JJB Sta. Barbara in the championship game.

Andrada was later named as tournament MVP and Best Setter, Memielle Letran was awarded as Best Outside Hitter, Zelver Banguiao as Best Middle Blocker, and Kara Feril as Best Opposite Hitter.

Also part of the Thunderbolts team are Edz Karylle Escultura, Sam Canete, Maria Shannen Bañas, Athena Magbanua, Ariane Alayon, Nicole Getino, Jemimah Calvo, Yz Montalbo, and Luchi Vivero.

Serving as head coach for the Thunderbolts 15-Under team is Gee Banzuela, with Jose Montalbo as team manager.

On their way to the finals, the Thunderbolts prevailed against all their opponents in the preliminary round before they edged out the Capiz-Fireantz in the semifinals round.

“I can consider this as an achievement for them because our opponents here in this tournament are very tough. Talagang na-test ‘yung mga players namin dito,” Montalbo said.

“As members of the Bacolod Tay Tung aspirants team, I want them to enjoy the moment and for them to continue improving so that when the time comes, we can elevate them to the juniors team,” he added.

Other competing teams in the Triple A Shoe Collection 15-Under Volleyball League are the CPU Golden Lions, ICSA, the Court Crusher United, La Paz, BCS, the Pavia Warriors, ATVC, PVGS, BNHS-Guimaras, Ateneo, and the Lions./ASC, WDJ
