Despite recent crimes involving theft and alleged missing individuals, the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) still considers the province to be generally peaceful and stable.

According to NOCPPO director, Colonel Rainerio de Chavez, coordination between the police and the provincial government has been effective, particularly through the provision of intelligence and investigation training.

These trainings have enhanced monitoring and response to criminal activities, De Chavez said.

He also expressed satisfaction with the continued support from local government units in the province, which has facilitated the implementation of directives aimed at combating crime.

Additionally, De Chavez said they will collaborate with the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) to investigate and resolve several ongoing cases in Negros Occidental.

Improving coordination and refining security strategies remain top priorities to ensure the safety of the community, he said.

Unsolved incidents

Meanwhile, the BCPO reported 11 unsolved crimes in the first seven months of this year.

The motives in the nine cases have been established, and there are already persons of interest, the BCPO said.

However, the victims’ families are no longer interested in filing a case.

Meanwhile, the other two cases remain unsolved, the BCPO said.

The BCPO assured that it will continue to investigate unsolved cases in the city, following calls for justice and the pursuit of suspects.

They called on residents who could provide them with vital information for solving various cases.

BCPO officer-in-charge, Colonel Joeresty Coronica, has directed police stations and investigative units in the city to prioritize the resolution of cases, including murder, rape, robbery, theft, and carnapping.

“The Bacolod police is steadfast in its commitment to ensuring peace and order in the city by intensifying efforts to resolve unsolved cases that have concerned the community,” Colonel Bonifacio Ancajas Jr., BCPO public information officer, said.

“This action comes in response to the growing need for justice and the relentless pursuit of the perpetrators of these crimes,” he added./JB, WDJ
