The Farm Fresh Foxies are still pretty much in the hunt for a quarterfinal spot in the 2024 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Reinforced Conference.

This, as the Louie Romero-captained squad clinched a three-set victory over Capital1, 25-17, 25-23, 25-20, on Thursday, August 15, at PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.

The Foxies improved to a 3-4 win-loss card in Pool D, after the sweep, while the Solar Spikers are at 4-3.

“We had two straight losses, but our level of play is good and [it] is there. I just trust our players, and we’ll make the necessary adjustments when we train for our next game [vs. Akari],” Japanese shot-caller Shota Sato said, translated into English.

Janel Delerio was there to protect their side of the taraflex, with 22 excellent digs and nine excellent receptions, while Louie Romero orchestrated her spikers’ plays with 16 excellent sets.

Import Yeny Murillo led the offense with 15 points on 13 attacks and two aces, while local Trisha Tubu added 12 markers.

Profilic scorer Marina Tushova paced the losing side with 18 points, while rookie Leila Cruz’s conference-high 10 points went down the drain after the Solar Spikers’ loss.

Capital1 could still clinch an assured quarterfinal spot against the Galeries on Tuesday, August 20, while the Foxies have a daunting task of facing top team Akari on the same game date.

“Our main focus for now is the next game. We have to get the win,” Sato said. (ABS-CBN News)
