Two-time Filipino Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo on Wednesday, August 14, said he hopes to be able to compete with his younger siblings, who are also gymnasts, in the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.

Yulo was the lone Filipino male gymnast that competed in the 2024 Paris Olympics.

But he is not discounting the possibility that the Philippines would be able to field a Team Yulo four years from now, during the next Summer Games.

“I’m really hoping po and praying for that na matuloy,” Yulo told ABS-CBN News after he was awarded a P32 million condo unit in Taguig City.

His younger brother, Karl Eldrew Yulo, has already bagged gold medals from different international gymnastics competitions.

The golden boy’s youngest sister, Elaiza Yulo, has started to make a name for herself in the gymnastics community as well, even racking up several gold medals in the 2024 Palarong Pambansa in Cebu.

This isn’t farfetched as Gymnastics Association of the Philippines (GAP) president Cynthia Carrion revealed in a separate interview with select reporters at Rizal Memorial Coliseum that Eldrew is assured of a spot in the gymnastics team.

GAP is forming a team for LA 2028, Carrion said.

“Yes. Not [a] possibility, for sure. Two Yulos. The line-up will be Carlos, Eldrew. I am trying to get Jake Jarman from the British, and then Miguel [Besana]. Just make sure that we have one or two good ones from here. We have a team,” Carrion said.

Carrion is all praises for Eldrew, who is also making a name for himself.

“Unless one of them [doesn’t get] hurt. That’s the only thing I’m praying that they don’t get injured because Eldrew is capable [and] so daring,” she said. (ABS-CBN News)
